About
The Olive Hills Band is based out of San Marcos, California and frequents local venues with their unique mix of classic and contemporary rock & roll. Here’s a quick run down on the band and what we’re all about…

Ron: Bass, Vocals, Guitar, Band Leader
Ron heads up the band and is famous for dragging people to Guitar Center so that we can spend money we don’t have on gear we don’t need! (Hey, that’s what it’s all about, right?) While he’s grinding wicked bass riffs he somehow manages to also belt out solid vocals that set the stage for many of our songs (while also attending to ‘Dr. Boss’, our drummer)

Kevin: Lead Guitar, Vocals
Kevin, Ron’s original partner-in-crime who helped come up with the idea to put us in garage each weekend and blow our ears out, insists on a well-funded bar tab if you’re interested us playing for you. If you really take care of him, he might whip out the stool where he’ll have a seat and let his guitar REALLY sing for you. (usually mandated by the lack of ability to stand any longer!)

Pete: Rhythm Guitar
Pete thrashes better than most guitarists and is famous for effect-driven rhythms that move our songs along. He also gained stature recently when he single-handedly scored us a new studio for our practices. (woot!) Aside from playing, he’s been honing his skills at guitar spray-painting and amp tube swapping and particularly enjoys contributing to the delinquency of the rest of us.

Will: Harp, Band Promoter
Will knows how to rip out a classic, improvised style on his harp and thanks to his wireless mic, can often be seen mingling with the crowd or even sitting at the bar while he’s playing songs with us. (yes, we’re jealous) His uber promotional skills get us our gigs and bar tabs and he’s always there the morning after to help mix up the bloody mary’s. (Now if he could just score us some roadies!!!)

Mike: Keys, Vocals, Band Webmaster
Mike’s got issues…mainly with the fact that the rest of the band is older than him which he qualifies given the fact that his first album was a CD (not a cassette, not an 8-track, and not a vinyl.) After getting talked into dropping a load on equipment, Mike’s filled out the songs with what some people call piano playing and what he calls ’suckage’, but hey - he’s found out that getting paid to drink isn’t a half-bad gig and is willing to pelt out some music to contribute in return.

Debra: Vocals, Percussion
Debra’s able to jump in and sing like nobody’s business and helps pull together a lot of our songs. Her sense of rhythm has saved us on multiple occasions when we can’t her the BOSS-man and her singing really helps round out our sound.

Debbi: Vocals, Percussion
Debbi’s our latest addition and brings a powerful voice and a terrific animated, sassy personality. Look for more of her to come as she comes up to speed on our songs and brings us some new ones of her own!
Special Guests
Every once in a while, we’re fortunate enough to have special guests join with us for a gig or just a few songs.

Hector: Guitar
Hector’s a fantastically gifted guitarist who’s only outdone by his own wit and laid-back personality. His screamin’ riffs are always a welcome addition to OHB and we’re always looking forward to the next time he can join us.
Retired Members
Unfortunately, we lose great band members from time to time and while we truly miss them and their talent, we’ll always remember the good times with them. Rock on!

Michelle: Vocals
Rarely do you find such a wonderful individual with such a gifted voice. Michelle’s charismatic personally combined with her musical talent was a strong force that carried many of the bands songs for several years. Michelle, you’re truly missed and we wish you all the best.

Al: Drums
We miss Al every day we play. Likely because of the strong rhythm and talented improvisation Al was capable of (and that Mr. Boss, the drum machine, obviously isn’t doing for us.) Al’s rock-solid beat, instantly gratifying fills, and lightning sticks brought completeness to the band while he was with us. Thanks for the good times, Al.
